Students Needing Accommodations (Disability Services)
The University of Massachusetts Amherst is committed to making reasonable, effective and appropriate accommodations to meet the needs of students with disabilities and help create a barrier-free campus.
If you have a documented disability, and you are in need of accommodations, please talk with your instructor as soon as the semester begins.
You will be need to meet with someone in the Disability Services office and get set up to receive accommodations – in class and/or on exams. The UMass office of Disability Services is in room 161 of the Whitmore Administration building and their phone number is: (413) 545-0892
Your instructor should receive an email from your Disability Services counselor with your accommodation letter. Its always a good idea to touch base with your instructor as soon as possible to make sure he/she has received your letter. That way, if they haven’t received it, there will be time for you to track it down before the first exam.
In math127, you will take Exam #1 and Exam #2 on the night of the regularly scheduled exam. You will simply start the exam at 6:00PM (rather than 7:00PM) and you will be in a separate (distraction reduced) room from the large lecture halls. You will receive all the accommodations listed on your accommodation form. You will receive an email from Cat Benincasa (the course chair) in the week or two before the exam to give you specific details of where and when to show up.
You will register to take your Final Exam with the Disability Services Proctoring Center. There are detailed instructions on this page for getting booked for your Final Exam.
