About

My name is Muge Capan. I am an Assistant Professor at the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department at University of Massachusetts Amherst. I received my Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering at North Carolina State University with a minor in Operations Research. My research utilizes health systems engineering and stochastic models to analyze and inform clinical decision making under uncertainty. My current research activities focus on diagnostic decision making in ambulatory setting to reduce diagnostic inequity and delays, analysis of rurality and transportation related factors in disparities in access to care in ambulatory setting, and modeling care provider utilization to inform resource allocation decisions.
