Abstract:
Home Market Foods (HMF) knows their overall process capability; however, they want to know the capabilities of each individual machine. This is crucial because it will allow HMF to assess each machine’s impact on their entire production process. Through our team’s analysis, HMF will be able to identify and address problematic machines such as bottlenecks, which will increase their total production rate and result in higher profits. Because HMF is preoccupied with scheduling and demand issues, they have not conducted the necessary studies on individual machines. As such, our approach to assess individual machine capability was to simulate the production line and study how each machine performs. Additionally, we examined ways to optimize the scheduling issue that HMF faces. With an optimal schedule and identified bottlenecks, the production line we evaluated will be significantly more efficient.
