    For chapter 3 #11 the questions says to explain the trends in bond angles and bond lengths of the following ions: ClO3-, BrO3-, IO3-. I understand why the bond length increases from left to right (because the atoms get larger) but I do not understand why the O-X-O angle increases from left to right.

    I don’t know how to rationalize the bond angle sizes in question 3.32 (HOF<FOF<HOH). Could we talk about this in class on Wednesday?

    I hope that we covered this during class. It has to do with the more electronegative element pulling electron density toward it, and how that affects the congestion of the electron cloud near the central atom. If you have further questions, please let me know!
