Description et organisation du cours
Notre tâche principale sera de mettre en œuvre et d’approfondir les connaissances de français que vous avez déjà acquises. Pour ce faire, nous allons nous concentrer sur les éléments suivants:
1) une révision systématique de structures grammaticales;
2) la lecture et l’analyse de quelques courts textes littéraires;
3) l’apprentissage d’une écriture critique. Tout travail, oral et écrit, sera en français. Une préparation sérieuse et assidue et une active participation en classe sont essentielles et obligatoires.
Travail exigé et notes:
Votre note finale tient compte du progrès que vous faites au cours du semestre ainsi que de votre participation active en classe. Les absences ne sont pas tolérées, exception n’étant fait qu’en cas de maladie ou d’un empêchement sérieux. Toute absence doit obligatoirement être documentée pour être excusée. Tout exercice de grammaire doit être préparé à l’avance et par écrit selon le programme ci- dessous (il faut, bien entendu, aussi étudier le chapitre qui correspond aux exercices et préparer des questions à poser en classe!). Il y aura trois examens, ainsi que trois compositions et leurs corrigés éventuels. (Notez que la première version de Composition 1 est obligatoire, tandis que les premières versions des Compositions 2 et 3 sont facultatives). En outre, les devoirs à remettre comprennent plusieurs courtes rédactions. Ces courtes rédactions sont indiquées en caractères gras dans la colonne “à remettre” ci-dessous. Pour ces courtes rédactions, écrivez un bon paragraphe d’à peu près une page, à double interligne (250 mots environ). Les interros pour chaque chapitre se feront sur le système OWL, qui se trouve à owl.oit.umass.edu (cliquez sur “foreign languages”).
ACADEMIC INTEGRITY: Academic dishonesty shall be grounds for a grade of F for the course. Of particular concern to the department is the question of what constitutes plagiarism. Plagiarism is defined in the MLA Handbook (Gibaldi, Joseph, and Walter S. Achtert, 1988, pages 21-25) as “the use of another person’s ideas or expression in your writing without giving proper credit to the source… the wrongful act of taking the product of another person’s mind and presenting it as one’s own.” Also unacceptable is the use of computer translators, as well as copying information, either sentences or paragraphs in whole, from the internet or other sites. Keep in mind that it is also unacceptable to ask another person to proofread a composition or other work for you and pass it off as your own. Therefore, while we encourage you to work and learn together outside of class, you may not ask your tutor or other peer to proofread and correct compositions for you prior to grading. The purpose of compositions is to demonstrate your ability to use material which has been covered in class, and the ultimate goal is for it to be a learning experience.
ACCOMODATIONS FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES: Many accommodations are available at the University to ensure that students with disabilities participate fully in academic and student life. They provide a student with a disability equal access to the educational and co-curricular process, without compromising essential components of the curriculum.
