Michael Rawlins
Associate Director, Climate System Research Center and Extension Associate Professor, Department of Geosciences
Michael’s research advances understanding of the hydrology and biogeochemistry of arctic environments. Hiss research investigates how climatic processes affect and influence terrestrial water and carbon cycles through synthesis studies which leverage in situ observations, numerical models, and remote sensing data.
Shahab Afshari
Postdoctoral Scholar
Shahab’s research investigates freshwater hydrology through the use of models and data analysis tools. He has published research on the relationships between river cross-section geometry, bed-slope, bed roughness, and hydraulic slope, which can be used to provide quantitative and qualitative assessment of river flow dynamics.
Former group members
Pawlok Dass
Postdoctoral Scholar (2015-2017)
Pawlok’s research is focused on advancing understanding how plants change and regulate the availability of below ground nitrogen and phosphorous. This includes the dynamics related to how climate controls northern high latitude vegetation and the land-atmosphere exchange of greenhouse gases.
