ABOUT US
AARON SCHUSTER
I am a Junior in the Isenberg School of Management studying Sport Management. I am also a Game-Day Marketing Intern for the UMass Athletics Department working at football games, in addition to other the Olympic sporting events. As member of the Delta Chi Fraternity, serving on the Executive Board as the Alumni Secretary, I enjoy partaking in philanthropic events and spending time with the other members. In my spare time I enjoy being outdoors, playing tennis, intramural sports, and skiing during the winter months.
My name’s Aria Bracci, and I’m a senior at UMass Amherst. I’ve lived off campus since last semester, and I’ve honestly thrived. I have so much more control of my schedule, organization, and diet, and I’m saving tons of money. Get yourself out here.
Hey guys, I’m Julia. I’m a junior nutrition major at UMass Amherst and this is my first year living off campus. One of the main reasons I wanted to experience life off campus (other than the sense of freedom) is because I LOVE cooking for myself!
My favorite meals are those that I can make quickly after class, work, or practice, or that I can make in the morning or between classes and reheat quickly when I get home after a long day, which is why I decided to start this blog!
I never really cooked much until my senior year of high school when I took a cooking class and realized that I was able to make entire meals within the 45 minute class periods. Ever since then, I’ve found myself making the majority of meals for my family when I’m home, simply because I enjoy it (plus, I’d much rather make the meal and have someone else do dishes, which is a great deal to make with your roommates).
I really enjoy food, and because I’m majoring in nutrition you can expect to find a few healthy recipes (or healthier alternatives) on this blog. I hope to share some of my favorite recipes as well as some new ideas that I come across and am just trying myself. I hope you all enjoy!
KARLY DUNN
I’m Karly, a junior journalism major at UMass. I’ve been a commuter student since the start of my sophomore year and I’ve loved it more than living on campus. I get to go home every day to a comfortable living space and I get home-cooked meals every night! I manage this blog and all of us OCAs have learned a lot about landlord/tenant law, so stop in to see us if you have questions about off campus life.
ZACH O’DONNELL
My name is Zach and I am a senior Resource Economics major set to graduate in May 2017. I have been working through the OCSC since I was a freshman with Walk This Way and Team Positive Presence. This year I moved off campus and is my first year as an OCA. I live in Sunderland and built a movie theater in my basement!
Hello everyone! My name is Julianna and I am a senior studying Microbiology and Public Health. I am an international student from Malaysia living off campus at the Boulders. Living off campus is particularly great as an international student because I don’t have to constantly be moving out at the end of the school year. I also have the BEST roommates!
OUR ALUMNI
Delaney Ratner graduated a Resource Economics major on the Natural Resource and Environmental track, minoring in Environmental Policy. She split her time between school, the Off Campus Student Center, the UMass Cannabis Reform Coalition, music festivals, hiking and dog agility competitions. Originally from Maine, Delaney specifically chose UMass because they allowed her file for housing exemption as an out-of-state freshman, so she was able to keep her dog, Kelso. Living off campus as a freshman was important to Delaney so she could continue to train, teach and continue competing in dog agility during her time at UMass. In their time at UMass, Delaney and Kelso won three national championships!
Gila lives in Houston, TX, but spent middle school years in New Jersey and high school in Washington state. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Conservation and Public Health and a Bachelor of Arts in English.
My name is Katie Bowler. I’m from Medford, MA, just a few minutes outside of Boston, and I’m a senior English/Journalism major. Like most other seniors, I have absolutely no clue what I want to do with my life but I’m trying to remain calm *takes deep breaths*. I’m a BuzzFeed fanatic and I love to nap, eat, read, write, and watch TV – all those typical, lazy things. I like to think I’m a ~bit~ crafty so here’s hoping ya’ll think the same!
Hello! My name’s Sabrina and I am a senior here at UMass! This is my second year as an off campus student as well as my second year working at the Off Campus Student Center. I am a Legal Studies major with a Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies minor, and am involved in VOX: Students for Reproductive Justice here on campus as well as Peer Advising in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. A fun fact about myself is that I have a pet rabbit named Marzipan who I have as a roommate in my apartment this year!
