Nobel Prize

Einstein was given the Nobel Prize in Physics for the year 1921. Albert was awarded the prize “for his work on theoretical physics” He was also recognized tremendously for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect. Many say it is blasphemous that Einstein was not awarded the Nobel Prize for the theory of relativity. His relativity discovery might be one of the most important/innovating ideas ever. It was the gate way to other huge inventions such as the nuclear bomb. For this achievement, Einstein is frequently referred to as the father of modern physics and the most influential physicist of the 20th century. What usually happens during the presentation of the Nobel Prize, the winner is awarded the Nobel Certificate and the golden Nobel Medal with the picture of the founder (Alfred Nobel). The Swedish king is in charge of giving the award and prize money is only paid once the Nobel speech has been given. Unfortunately, Einstein was on a trip through Japan when he was awarded the prize on December 10, 1922. There was a lot of talk as to whether or not a German or Swedish legate should receive the award in his honor. Was he a German or a Swiss citizen? They came to the decision that a German legate would obtain the prize in Einstein’s name. Einstein himself was handed over the document and the medal in Berlin by the Swedish ambassador. Einstein held his Nobel speech on July 11, 1923 in the Jubilee Hall in Goeteborg. The king was in attendance and about 2000 listeners were there to hear what he had to say. He spoke about “fundamental ideas and problems of the theory of relativity. The total amount of the prize money was approximately 120.000 Swedish Krones. Einstein then issued that money to his first wife Mileva and his two sons Hans Albert and Eduard.

Breaking News: Page in Einstein’s Diary found

9/29/1905

Today, I published my paper on mass-energy equivalence. I am 100% sure the information I provided was accurate and well thought out. There were nights where I wouldn’t fall asleep until the crack of dawn, just because I knew my evidence couldn’t be misleading and had to be elaborate. The formula I was able to come up with is E=mc^2. The E represents energy, m represents mass, and c^2 is the square of the speed of light which is a very large number. I would write about how I derived this equation but Mileva is waiting on me for dinner. This morning, while laying on my hammock, I thought about the main thing this formula proved. Small amounts of mass could be converted into huge amounts of energy. I have it in my deepest thoughts, that this could be the basis of the development of nuclear power. I was thinking that maybe I could help think of a letter to send to the president. I must urge him to fund a research for the development of an atomic bomb. I believe that I discovered the right information to make something of this sort happen. My only fear is how people will react to such a proposition. If I were to follow through with the letter, it must not be told to the public. It could possibly be very controversial. The fact of the matter is that we must develop the first bomb before the Nazi’s or Japan does. For the sake of the country, I must take action and help invent one. Such a discovery would shift world powers. Who knows what other countries can do with it. It would be in the United States’ best interests to read that letter. Tomorrow, I will see who wants to back me up on this project. This will prove that I am the smartest man in the world.
