3B22.30-Standing Waves with Horizontal Shive

3b1030horizontal_shive_2

Description: Using the horizontal shive with one end driven by a motor, you can show the effect of standing waves
when the frequency of oscillation is matched to the resonant nature of the shive.
The number of nodes depends on the frequency of oscillation.

Note: A book or adjustable stand is needed to lift the motor up so that the rods are level when the motor is in the center position.
Do not go over three nodes on each side (six in total).
