Description: This demonstration shows atmospheric pressure.

Equipment:

• Vacuum pump
• Can with appropriate stopper (fitted for vacuum pump)

Setup Procedure:

1. Attach the vacuum pump hose to the stopper and plug in the vacuum pump.

Demonstration Procedure:

1. When ready, turn on the vacuum pump.
2. Note that the can is crushed by the outside atmospheric pressure (as there is less pressure inside the can now).
3. When finished, turn off the vacuum pump.
