I still do not have a course number for this reading group. Please keep checking SPIRE. It should be listed as WFCON 697-something or other. As soon as I have a course number I will post it here. The deadline for registering for courses is next Monday, Sept 17. So, I’m hopeful that we’ll get a course number assigned this week. Thanks for your patience!
Reading for 9/17
Jack Finn will lead the discussion on Sept 17. Please remember that we’ll be meeting in 306 Holdsworth this week (but back to the original room for all subsequent weeks).
The reading will be:
Hobson, K.A., et al. 2007. Estimating origins of three species of neotropical migrant songbirds at a gulf coast stopover site: Combining stable isotope and GIS tools. Condor 109 (2):256-267
A hard copy will be posted in the Holdsworth mailroom, or you can access a pdf of the article here:
Reading for 9/10
Our first reading for the semester is:
Von Der Lippe, M., and I. Kowarik. 2007. Long-Distance Dispersal of Plants by Vehicles as a Driver of Plant Invasions. Conservation Biology 21:986-996.
Copies are available through the library’s ejournals system. A hard copy is posted on the mailroom bulletin board in Holdsworth Hall. Please make your own photocopy and leave the original in place for others.
Welcome…
… to the blog for the Conservation Biology Journal Club, organized by Paige Warren, and meeting Mondays at 11am in 312a Holdsworth. This site will be used as a means for communicating about the journal club. Weekly readings will be posted here as well as any news about changes to the schedule. Since readers of the blog can post comments, we can also use this site as an online extension of the weekly meetings. Post your thoughts on the discussions, your ideas for readings and for future topics for discussion. As with the weekly meetings, I ask all participants to be considerate of others.
