So the Red Sox did it last night, hooray!!! (And the rioting was under control at UMass.) But the Boston Globe blew it. All the local stores this morning were sold out of the paper. You’d think after all these years in business they would be able to better predict demand for the paper on the day the Red Sox win the World Series.

Writing for a small paper, I have to take my own photos.  I have no training in photography, so I’m always happy if I get a decent one like this one today for a story on local produce in cafeteria lunches.  Of course, visuals are even more important on-line, so I’d like to improve my photography skills.

An update on this photo:  Here’s a boy with bright blonde hair, big blue eyes, in an orange shirt eating a green pear, and the editor put it on a black-and-white page, even though there’s plenty of color pages in the newspaper.  What can you do?
