HW 6 – Who Are You?

This reading reflection builds on E.F.Schumacher’s reminder in his book, Good Work, that good work should...

  1.     …provide the worker with a decent living (food, clothing, housing)
  2.     …enable the worker to perfect their natural gifts & abilities
  3.     …allow the worker to be useful to other people

In order to explore number 2 above, read the entire chapter titled Who Are You.  Then reflect on the question Carolyn asks at the bottom of page 46 and the top of page 47;

What’s the biggest and most important problem I can solve with my gifts and skills?

This chapter is from Derrick Jensen’s  book Walking on Water.

Your homework is to bring 2 copies of a draft 3-paragraph essay to class on Thursday, February 14 for peer feedback.  The essay should address the question “…what’s the biggest and most important problem I can solve with my gifts and skills?  Make sure your homework is double-spaced and either typed or written clearly.

If you have not yet read anything by Derrick Jensen, you should!  Here are some of his “edgier” quotes: Jensen Quotes.
