Undergraduate Kaleigh Keohane produced informational video on House Wren and Wood Thrush projects

Kaleigh Keohane, an undergraduate in the Warren lab and a dual journalism and environmental science major, is releasing her summer research project. The project is a high-production quality informational video that focuses on the House Wren and Wood Thrush projects in the Warren lab. We are excited to share this video, and find it a compelling and effective way to showcase some of the lab’s activities in an accessible way. Congratulations Kaleigh for a job well done!

Congratulations to Kallin Lang for her Spotlight Feature on her work in the Warren Lab this summer, funded by the CAFE Summer Scholar Program.
Kallin has been working closely with Paige Warren and graduate student Kit Straley on her Honors Thesis project about the parasites that pester growing Wood Thrush chicks.

UMass Amherst’s Center for Agriculture, Food, and the Environment (CAFE) wrote a nice spotlight about Paige’s research interests and current work on Wood Thrush with an undergraduate Summer Scholar, Kallin Lang. We are very lucky to be working with Kallin this summer under the new CAFE Summer Scholar Program.

For more information on this summer’s work with Wood Thrush as well as the House Wren, stay tuned for an upcoming photo series…

Dr. Paige Warren in the media!

An urban greenspace from the Boston Metro-Area ULTRA-Ex project.
Results from a collaborative 2013 study on greening projects and bird diversity in Boston popped up this week in Richard Conniff’s column –7 Ways You Can Create an Oasis for Wildlife in Your Town. The column synthesizes information and wildlife recommendations from a variety of studies in many cities across the US — definitely worth a read!

Paige was also one of three guests on a radio show called Radio Times on WHYY, the Philadelphia NPR station in March 2016. The show discussed ways to make cities more bird friendly as well as hot spots for birding in Philadelphia. Listen here.
