About Lex

I am a Psychology student working in the Riley Lab through the CURE and Team SciComm on Project Cookbook, designed to harness the power of gut microbes for long-term health. I am drawn to research focused on addressing important issues such as the current mental health crisis, food insecurity and access to healthcare. Studying the microbiome has opened the door to integrate the innate intelligence of the body to reimagine health from the inside out. I have served as member of the Learning Lab and Intergroup Relations and Social Justice Lab studying the impacts of Belonging. I am dedicated research and educational outreach that provides novel and accessible resources for health, connection and wellbeing. My favorite bacteria is Deinococcus radiodurans because it’s tough as nails. It can survive anything including extreme radiation, and can even protect human cells from radiation damage.
