About Merin
I am a member of the Commonwealth Honors College pursuing a degree in Public Health, with my focus area being in science communication and advocacy. In the Riley Lab, I lead Team SciComm, focused on developing accessible educational material on bacteriocins and the human microbiome. After college, I hope to study integrative medicine. My favorite bacteria is B. infantis (Bifidobacterium longum Subspecies infantis) because they are amazingly well adapted to the human microbiome, and are some of the first bacteria to colonize our gut!
