About Maddie
I am a Biochemistry and Molecular Biology student who is a part of the Commonwealth Honors College here at UMass. Within the Riley Lab, I am a member of Team CURE, where I intend to learn and employ a variety of different lab protocols and procedures. Upon the development of such research skills, alongside the completion of my undergraduate degree, I aspire to attend medical school and eventually become a physician. Outside of my academics, I enjoy running, and I am an active member of the Club Gymnastics Team. My favorite type of bacteria is Thermus aquaticus due to its stability at high temperatures, as well as its use for the production of the enzyme Taq polymerase, which is used during polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
