About Sofia

I’m team leader for Team Phylogeny, analyzing protein sequences to understand bacteriocin evolution. I’m a biology major at UMass and hope to continue my research career in evolution and/or infectious disease after graduating. On an average day you can find me building phylogenetic trees or on my quest for the perfect piece of structure/function literature. My favorite bacterium is E. coli because it’s an absolute classic and produces colicin bacteriocins (but don’t ask me to pronounce Escherichia).
