ALS-LSA Workshop: Complex/clustered predicates and argument structure in African languages

As part of the 2023 LSA Summer Institute, we are excited to announce a special crossover event with the African Linguistics School (ALS). ALS is a biannual institute which brings the latest work in core areas of linguistics to students from African universities, with a focus on syntax, semantics, phonology, sociolinguistics and phonetic fieldwork.

The ALS-LSA Workshop will feature talks and lightning talks from scholars and students associated with either ALS or the LSA Summer Institute. While the lightning talk presentations will be on a varied set of topics, the other talks will focus on complex/clustered predicates and argument structure in African languages.

Date: June 28 2023, 09:00am–02:00pm EST

Location: The workshop will take place in a hybrid format, with an in-person audience at the LSA Summer Institute and some participants joining by Zoom. The Zoom link will be made available to registered participants via email. The in-person venue is N400 in the Linguistics Department in the ILC, UMass Amherst.
