Travel Information

Please refer to the UMass website for more detailed information on transportation and lodging. Brief information is also available below:

Lodging:

Here is a non-exhaustive list of some hotels in the area. Other hotels and types of lodging (for example, Airbnb) are also available and can be found by searching online. Note that the Pioneer Valley Transit Authority (PVTA) routes service many hotels in the area. If travelling without a car, reference the routes before booking a hotel.

Rooms at Courtyard by Marriott

We have reserved a block of 10 rooms at a discounted rate at  Courtyard by Marriott Hadley Amherst for the conference. Make sure to book your room by February 21, 2023 in order to receive the conference rate. Please use the following link to book or call the hotel at +1  (413)-256-5454  and mention the conference. The conference venue is easily accessible from the hotel (and other hotels in the area) by the B43 public bus (see the PVTA link above).

Note that the B43 bus runs on School-day schedule on Fridays, and No School schedule on Saturdays and Sundays, so the bus times might be different on these days. So make sure to use the correct schedule. You will get off at UMass/Haigis Mall, which is a few minutes walk from the conference building, Integrative Learning Center (ILC).

Transportation:

UMass Amherst is 45 miles north of Hartford’s Bradley International Airport and 90 miles west of Boston’s Logan International Airport. Car rentals are available at both airports.

There is also an Amtrak station in Northampton, which is the next town over from Amherst. The PVTA offers regular local buses in the area including between Northampton and UMass Amherst.

Greyhound and Peter Pan Bus Lines are long distance bus operators that service the area. Ourbus is a new bus operator that is also now operating in the area. It has very positive reviews.

Make sure to arrange your transportation from and to the airport beforehand, since Uber may be limited.

If you driving or renting a car, please check the Visitor Parking Options for parking on campus.
