Wine Tasting and Parrish Prints

Marti did some yardwork this morning, then just before noon, we left to go racing around Sacramento — running errands but having fun as well.

After a stop at the chiropractor and the AAA Office, we sat down for lunch at an L-and-L franchise; here I must confess that as a conscientious vegetarian I’m not supposed to eat fish, but I ordered the very tasty grilled mahi.  Then it was on to Bogle Winery, a few miles from the city center, where they had a selection of six wines for us to taste. I ended up buying a bottle of the 2007 Ghost du Blanc, which I’ll have to pack in my checked luggage if I want to bring it home with me. Here are some photos I took at the winery and of the vines. From left to right: we’re sipping a red, grapes are not ripe yet, vines at Bogle, and a photo of a vineyard taken through the open window of a moving car!

Back in the city, we headed for the Crocker Art Museum and arrived around 4 pm.

One of the featured exhibits was a series of Maxfield Parrish prints, so we spent the hour until closing in that gallery. Some of Parrish’s commercial work might look dated today, but he was a master craftsman who produced superb prints, many of which are in this show.
