If you would like to nominate someone as a BRiDGE Scholar for your department seminar series, please fill out the Google form below (also linked here). We collect nominations and share them with departments as they plan their Fall and Spring seminar series (usually a few months in advance of the semester starting); however, you are welcome to submit a nomination anytime.
Details on the nomination process
What are you looking for in nominees?
We are looking for early-career STEM researchers (completed their graduate work within the past 5 years) from underrepresented groups who have demonstrated commitment to research with positive broader impacts and to strong mentorship. Nominees can be postdoctoral scholars, faculty, or researchers from academic and non-academic institutions, and their research interests should be a good fit for a departmental seminar in the UMass departments that currently partner with BRiDGE (Environmental Conservation, Geosciences, Landscape Architecture & Regional Planning, Microbiology, Molecular & Cellular Biology, Neuroscience & Behavior, Organismic & Evolutionary Biology, Psychology & Brain Sciences, Stockbridge Plant & Soil Sciences). Please note, if your department is not listed above but is interested in hosting BRiDGE scholars, please read about becoming a partner program here, and contact us at bridge@umass.edu.
Who can nominate BRiDGE scholars?
Anyone in the UMass community. We especially encourage nominations from graduate and undergraduate students.
Do I need to have a connection with or personally know my nominee?
No. The BRiDGE committee will make the initial contact with selected nominees. And that brings us to…
How does the nomination process work?
- Fill out the nomination form
- BRiDGE committee members will review nominations and extend invitations to selected nominees. You do not need to be involved in coordinating and hosting, but if you would like to be involved, please reach out to the BRiDGE committee members in your department (and perhaps consider joining the BRiDGE Committee!).
