NSF grant to study origami mechanics

Christian Santangelo and three collaborators have been awarded a $2M four-year grant from the National Science Foundation under the Emerging Frontiers in Research and Innovation (EFRI) Origami Design for Integration of Self-assembling Systems for Engineering Innovation (ODISSEI) program. They plan to develop tools to fabricate polymer sheets that spontaneously fold into origami structures and study their mechanics.
