Populations served:
Children between birth and three years of age who are born with a disability or health condition that affects their development. Children who were born prematurely; have feeding, vision, or hearing issues; are slow to crawl, sit, walk, talk, or do things for themselves; have behavior or attention difficulties, or who meet environmental risk criteria may also be eligible.

Criterion-Heritage Early Intervention serves children in the following towns: Holyoke, Chicopee, South Hadley, Granby, Ludlow, Southampton, Belchertown, Ware, Palmer, and Monson.

General job description of what an intern might do:
Criterion-Heritage Early intervention offers Developmental Enrichment Groups at both centers which are designed to provide a structured opportunity for parents and their children to experience growth and development through play and social interaction. Interns assist the group staff in several ways:
- Preparing and planning group activities
- Supporting children during group routines
- Completing special projects (e.g., activities for circle time, sensory play, etc.)
In addition to group services, early intervention staff also provide home visits for children and their families. Student Interns may have opportunities to observe staff (Developmental Specialists, Social Workers, Speech and Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and Physical Therapists) during home visits or assessments. Student Interns may also have an opportunity to observe Team, Staff, or Orientation Meetings.
Your expected availability:
At least 2 mornings per week from 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Additional hours for special projects, afternoon groups, home visit observations, or office assistance can be arranged. Our locations are not accessible by public transportation, so access to a car is required.
