Other: Outreach to family’s residence, childcare centers, etc. Convene parent-child community groups throughout our 42 town catchment area (Franklin & Hampshire Counties, and North Quabbin communities).

General job description of what an intern might do:

REACH serves families of children with developmental disabilities (DD), developmental delay and those who may be at risk for DD. Our mission is to partner with families and assure that they have the resources and support to meet the individualized development needs of their children for learning and living meaningfully in their community. Tasks include:

  • Observe and shadow in an early intervention program.
  • Assist in preparation, planning and providing support to children during community playgroups.
  • Complete special projects to support playgroup staff (e.g., activities for circle time, etc.)
  • Observe children in other service settings (home, childcare); and with other clinical members of child/family team (Developmental Specialists, Physical and Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, etc.)
  • Shadow clinicians to gain insight into Individual Family Services Plan (IFSP) process: Intake; Eligibility Evaluation; IFSP coordination; transition planning conferences; and IEP meetings.
  • Shadow clinicians from different disciplines to view individualized intervention strategies.

Your availability: 

At least two mornings per week to participate in parent-child play groups. In addition, you might assist with a special project or provide other indirect office assistance in the afternoons. You will need a car since sites are in different locations.
