About your organization:

TDS Center for Communication and Social Learning is a private clinic focused to real life/functional outcomes. We  specialize in Social Skills/Pragmatic Language work, Community Based Learning programs and Vocational training for a variety of ages and need levels. We are an enthusiastic and devoted group of SLPs, special educators and highly trained mentors dedicated to supporting our clients with different abilities who struggle with social understanding. We also offer an array of traditional speech/language services, consultation to local schools and adult dayhab sites, as well as, professional development opportunities addressing social emotional learning, integrating iPad technologies,  and using mindfulness strategies for classroom management.

We provide services for all age groups and levels of ability. We specialize in working closely with families to assist and support them in reaching their goals.

Location of the internship:

TDS has two clinic locations (Amherst and Longmeadow)

Is this location accessible by public transit?

Though a great deal of work occurs at our clinics, community based learning and vocational sites may vary –  intern should have their own transportation.

General description of what an intern might do:

This experience will provide interns an opportunity for in-depth learning regarding social skills groups and private practice work, as well as a general introduction to the field of speech-language pathology. Possible job responsibilities may include:

  • Learning about social skill interventions and best practices
  • Receiving mentor training related to TDS Social Programming
  • Participating in social groups as a trained mentor
  • Assisting with modifying and codifying a mentor handbook integrating social skills best practices and expectations for groups.
  • Assisting  with creating a goal bank for social groups.
  • Assisting  with direct and consultation services for groups and individual clients.
  • Assisting with the development and creation of therapy materials for specific groups or individuals using software such as LessonPix.
  • Assisting with iPad integration and trainings for parents
  • Participate in trainings and meetings with SLPs and Education staff

Your availability:

The majority of services are provided between 9-5 Monday-Thursday. Call the contact person below for specifics.
