About

The ECo Graduate Student Symposium, ECoGSS, is a platform to enable graduate students in the conservation sciences to share their diverse and interdisciplinary research. This is a symposium for graduate students in the field of conservation science to practice presentation and public speaking skills while coming together as part of a unique team of scientists furthering our world’s knowledge in environmental science. By providing feedback to these students throughout all stages of their graduate career and research development we will help to ensure the success of our department’s advancement and communication of science.

The goals and objectives of the symposium are to:

  • Encourage student-faculty and student-student collaborations and camaraderie in the ECo Department
  • Provide a setting for graduate students to practice their speaking skills for professional conferences
  • Enable students to receive feedback from peers and faculty
  • Showcase the diversity of research in the ECo Department (ECo, IMS, OEB and MS graduate programs) and beyond
  • Highlight discussions on community and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in both the department and the field of conservation science
