3.1 Revise Your Lesson Plan Around AR

One of the keys to good teaching is learning to be innovative without reinventing the wheel. Working with new technology, such as AR, shouldn’t mean starting from scratch. It doesn’t have to be just another add-on

Consider how you might revise a lesson plan to incorporate an AR app to improve student learning. Just like how AR apps enrich reality by building on what already exists (watch the Minecraft Earth trailer video below to see what this looks like!), you can enrich your teaching by adding AR to a lesson plan or learning activity you’ve already created.

Learning Activity Instructions

For this activity, select a lesson plan or learning activity that you’d like to revise. Maybe one that hasn’t worked as well as you’d hoped. Or a lesson plan for a class topic that students really struggle with. Or, one that might work well with AR.

Then, revise the lesson plan or learning activity to incorporate an AR app. You can use one of the AR apps from the previous sections or conduct a quick Internet search for an app that might fit well within your lesson plan.

Need some inspiration? Here are five examples of AR activities used in classrooms that can be very helpful and effective for students:

  • Digital Puzzle Boxes
  • Scavenger Hunt
  • Augmented Field Trips
  • Teacher-Created Virtual Expeditions
  • Student Created AR

Share a description of your revised lesson plan/learning activity on Twitter using the hashtag #ARVR3D.
