2.1 Considerations for VR Applications

There are a variety of virtual reality apps that can be used within the classroom setting. What app you decide to use will depend on what you’re trying to teach. Every app will have different strengths and weaknesses, such as cost, accessibility, and software requirements, and this may affect whether or not it will be useful in your classroom setting. For example, many free apps do not have the same visual design quality, user experience, or learning depth as paid apps. Some apps only work on expensive headsets. While others don’t really add to student learning. How do you decide which trade-offs to make when selecting a VR app?

In this section, you will learn how to evaluate VR apps for classroom use. You will have an opportunity to explore five popular VR apps and online tools for educational settings. Then, you’ll have the opportunity to evaluate a VR app of your choosing.
