Complete Television, Radio and Cable Industry Directory Now Available

The Libraries have added a subscription to the Complete Television, Radio and Industry Directory. It’s available in two parts:

Each part provides entries with contact data, executives and services provided by companies in the US and Canadian industries.

Mintel Trends Added for Consumer Data

Our new Mintel Trends subscription provides a database of reports on shifts in consumer behavior across industries, demographics and themes. It’s available to UMass Amherst students, librarians, and faculty only through an individual account which must be set up using a UMass email address. You can browse through reports by industry, demographic or theme, or you can search by keyword.

New Ebooks from the Institute of Physics

The Libraries have purchased two Institute of Physics ebook collections, Expanding Physics and Concise Physics. The collections will grow from 35 to 95 titles over the next couple of years. You may find individual book titles in the UMass Amherst library catalog. The ebooks do not have digital rights restrictions and they are viewable in HTML, PDF, EPUB and MOBI formats.

More E-Journals Added from the Institute of Physics

The Libraries have expanded our subscriptions to Institute of Physics (IOP) e-journals. We now offer current and archival access to all IOP publications (over 70 titles), including the Journal of Physics series and Physics World archive. You may find them in the UMass Amherst library catalog or the E-Journal List.

Two Korean Language Newspaper and Scholarly Article Databases on Trial

The Libraries now have two new trials: Chosun-Ilbo Archive (a Korean language newspaper archive); as well as KISS (Korean Studies  Information Services System) a full text database of Korean scholarly journal articles, university publications and research papers.

The trials go through March 4th, 2015. Please give us your feedback on Chosun-Ilbo Archive and KISS. A UMass NetID login required for UMass Apps.

Upgrade to Business Source Complete

The Libraries have replaced Business Source Premier with Business Source Complete from Ebsco. Business Source Complete provides abstracting and indexing for 5,121 and full text for an additional 3,820 journals and magazines, with coverage goes back to 1886. The database also includes books, case studies, faculty seminar videos, industry reports and SWOT analyses. You can search by keyword or indexed field, and you can limit your search by company, NAICs code, publication type, language, date, full-text, peer review and much more.

U.S. Political Stats Database Added

U.S. Political Stats from CQ Press is a data visualization and research tool for data on Congress, the Supreme Court, and the Presidency. You can browse through data categories such as campaign finances, floor votes, interest group scores and Supreme Court cases; policy categories such as budget & taxation, immigration, veterans affairs, science, technology & communication; and by states and districts. You can also search by keyword and narrow your terms to apply to data, policy or branch categories. The results are displayed in charts or tables, and you can compare data sets.
