OVERVIEW

This page is a guide to this website, maintained by John Donoghue. It started out as a webpage for a course that I was teaching in 2015. Since then I have had the opportunity to present related material in various settings, and I have continued to use the website for those courses also. So there is a lot of material here.

However, there is a high level of redundancy – I use the same basic structure and adapt the presentation for the given audience. This page is a guide to using the material that you find most appropriate.

The best written material is the EPFL Lectures on General Relativity as a Quantum Field Theory, written with Mikhail Ivanov and Andrey Shkerin. The class notes and many references are here.

The most up-to-date and complete material is the mini-course which I am giving in June and September of 2023. This will amount to about 10 hours of lectures. The notes, video and references are to be found here.

In June 2023, I am also gave a shorter version with 4.5 hours of lectures to experimental and theoretical students at Perimeter Institute’s TRISEP summer school. These will be recorded by Perimeter, and the notes and recordings can be found on a separate page.

I have also given a 6 hour short course on Effective Field Theory at the Perimeter Scholar Winter School.

These are probably the most useful resources now. But you are free to explore the rest of the site.

For fun, here is a podcast interview about the EFT of GR, thanks to Vasudev Shyam

Also fun was an interview with more of a focus on the personal side from a series by the ISQG .
