The GWIS Diversity & Inclusion, Mentoring and Outreach committees are planning to hold a fundraising event for Black Girls CODE, the Atlanta 3/16 Survivors Fund, and the Support the AAPI Community Fund by hosting a virtual trivia night.
Black Girls CODE introduces computer coding lessons to young girls from underrepresented communities in programming languages such as Scratch or Ruby on Rails. The Atlanta 3/16 Survivors Fund provides direct financial assistance to the families of those killed, and individuals injured or suffering psychological trauma from the March 16th shootings in Acworth and Atlanta, GA, which claimed the lives of eight victims. The Support the AAPI Community Fund issues grants to trusted AAPI organizations working to rectify the racial inequalities in our society.
We ask that attendees of the event make a “give what you can” donation to any or all of the organizations and we will have a lot of great prizes on hand to give away! As part of trivia, we are also offering the first 40 people to sign up a free Graduate Women in STEM care package.
