Institute for Hierarchical Manufacturing
The Institute for Hierarchical Manufacturing (IHM) builds faculty research teams to address complex challenges in advanced materials and manufacturing, energy, optics, security, machine/human interfaces, and other areas for our program sponsors and industry partners. We draw upon the multi-disciplinary expertise of more than thirty research groups across three colleges at UMass to deliver timely, innovative, and scalable solutions. The IHM builds on the foundations of the NSF-sponsored Center for Hierarchical Manufacturing (CHM), a $36M Nanoscale Science and Engineering Center and leverages the state-of-the-art manufacturing demonstration and research facilities on the UMass campus. The IHM is administered through the MassNanoTech Institute at UMass.
