Five College Digital Humanities Program- Request For Proposals

5 collegeWith support from the Five College Deans, the Steering Committee of the Mellon Foundation-funded Five College Digital Humanities Project is pleased to issue a new call for proposals for interdisciplinary humanities projects that advance use of digital technologies while promoting curriculum development and enhanced student learning through student-faculty scholarship.

Grants will normally be in the range of $5000-$35,000.

Submission deadlines:  October 30, 2013, January 30, 2014, and April 11, 2014

Project Categories

In 2013-2014 projects will be funded in two categories.

Curriculum Development

These are projects that develop innovative uses of digital technology to carry out and/or support undergraduate research in the humanities in classroom settings. Projects may revise current curriculum or invent new classes – courses proposed, however, must result in shareable syllabi and courses taught in the subsequent three years.

Student-Faculty Research

These projects may unfold over the course of 1-2 years and should focus on student research—either within or outside formal classroom settings. We especially seek projects that involve sophomore and juniors as part of the student cohort and that develop practical models for continued student research after the life of the grant.
Priority in funding will be given to projects that are interdisciplinary in scope, that develop innovative approaches to student scholarship and learning and that have good potential to transform curricula in ways that persist beyond the grant award.
