Review of Mission Cantina from Jordan Saglio

Mission Cantina is a small, cozy restaurant serving a unique style of mexican-american cuisine.  Their menu has all the traditional mexican dishes like tacos, burritos, nachos, and enchiladas.  What I love about this restaurant is the the ability to customize your meal.  I could chose from a variety of fillings for the enchilada that I ordered such as: BBQ pork, braised beef, chorizo, vegetables, and fried fish.  I then had the option of 2 different sauces (one savory and one spicy) for my meal as well.  I chose the braised beef filling with the spicy sauce and it was delicious!  For an appetizer my party shared the nachos topped with BBQ pulled pork.  The chips are homemade making this dish fresh and tasty.
I had 2 margaritas while I was there.  My first was the Mission Margarita and I have to say this was one of the best margaritas I have ever had.  I’m usually not a huge fan of this cocktail because I hate sweet and sour mix.  Mission Cantina is either using a high quality mix or making their own because this drink was very enjoyable.  For my second margarita I ordered one that the waitress recommended which had 2 kinds of smoked tequila in it.  It was a little too smokey for me and tasted like a fire pit but I could see how many people could enjoy this drink.
I loved the service at this restaurant.  The staff was casual and did not try to be too formal.  Their service style fit the restaurant perfectly.  Our waitress acted real, striking up conversation and giving true meal recommendations that she enjoys.  I never got the sense that the server was trying to recommend the most expensive items to boost her check average.  Being a college student, I enjoyed this aspect about the service and in result I had a delicious meal at a reasonable price
