Abstract

A critical need in today’s mentorship practice is recognizing what mentees and mentors need from each other to accomplish both short and long term goals. While personal and professional goals may look similar, the complex identities (race/ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic background) of the individuals in the mentor-mentee relationship can radically change what each person can offer and expect towards achievement. The goal of this panel is to open discussion about how one can develop an effective mentorship team that addresses identity-specific needs.
