Air travel: Bradley Field (Hartford) is the closest airport, but there is no bus service to UMass.From Bradley you will need to rent a car or use Valley Transporter. Car travel: If you are coming by car, or are renting one, please consider offering a car pool by signing up at the following site: Information about LynSchrift carpools can be found here. If you would like to join a carpool from the airport, check this link and see if there is anyone arriving at a similar time to you, and book a spot in their car!

Train: Amtrak now goes to Northampton, not Amherst.

Friday Night Party: If you have a car, please offer rides at  the carpool page . If you need a ride, arrange for one at that page. The venue is about a half-hour away from Amherst, so rides will be needed.

Here is information about hotel accommodations near UMass. You should book SOON, because the weekend of the Lynschrift is also graduation weekend for Amherst College and Hampshire College (and when you book, take into account that the Lynschrift will begin with a dinner and party the evening of Friday, May 18). Rooms will be scarce – and perhaps a bit more expensive than normal. Here’s a list, sorted (roughly) by distance from UMass.

Hotel UMass (http://www.hotelumass.com/ ) We have reserved a block of 40 rooms in Hotel UMass (the Campus Center Hotel). This is very convenient, right on campus. Call (877) 822-2110 to book, before April 20, when the rooms are released. The group code is LYN18C. The cost is $189/night, and includes parking in the Campus Center garage.

Lord Jeffrey Inn (http://www.lordjefferyinn.com/ )30 Boltwood Ave, Amherst (413) 256-8200. Good free bus service from the center of Amherst to the UMass campus – but very likely to be fully booked for Amherst College graduation

Black Walnut Inn (http://www.blackwalnutinn.com/) 1184 North Pleasant St, Amherst, MA 01002 (413) 549-5649. A 20 minute walk to campus, and on a free bus line. Very nice place.

Allen House Victorian Inn (http://www.allenhouse.com/ ) 599 Main St, Amherst, MA 01002 (413) 253-5000. On a free bus line, and quite charming.

Stone House Inn (http://stonehousefarmbb.com/) 649 East Pleasant St, Amherst, MA 01002 ((413) 549-4455. On a bus line, but not very frequent service
