Four talented high school students joined our lab for the Summer Research Intensive. Over the past six weeks, they carried out amazing work and created an impressive poster to showcase their research. Well done!

To celebrate the final week of the Summer Research Intensive, we took our amazing high school students on a hike to Sunderland Cave!

We are so excited to announce that Malavika’s paper is now in press in Journal of Biological Chemistry. The title of her paper is “Proton gradient controls the lateral rearrangement of inner membrane domains in response to membrane fluidizer stress in Mycobacterium smegmatis“. This work showed for the first time that the stress-induced redistribution of the IMD requires energy from the chemical gradient of the proton. Congratulations Malavika!

Kate and Yasu attended the Boston Bacterial Meeting. Kate presented her poster titled “An ABC Transporter Impacts Plasma Membrane Phospholipid Composition in Mycobacterium smegmatis.”

Gift, Amelia, Tiffany, and Paul (from left) graduated with Bachelor of Science degrees and attended their commencement ceremonies. Congratulations!

Paul began his Master’s program in January. Tiffany and Amelia will start their fifth-year Master’s programs this summer, and Gift will return in August to begin her Master’s in Microbiology this fall. We look forward to having them back as graduate students!
