Why is it that when I post something, people instantly think I hate white people? The comments that follow seem as if I had personally attacked each and every white friend. The text messages I receive only further these feelings as I fervently reply to explain, “I DON’T HATE WHITE PEOPLE!”
Even doing that seems like too much-its more explaining than needs to be done. Why should I have to sooth the part of you that gets uncomfortable when I post something that might go against your reality? My reality is discounted, daily. Hell, your replies to my post indicate that I must justify and explain my opinion instead furthering the conversation so you can connect with the deeper message I am trying to convey: There is more than one reality—acknowledge that, please.
We make rape survivors explain, in grave detail, their experience. ANY falsetto to said story and we completely discount and toss out every ounce of creditability until the survivor is so downtrodden that she completely recants her story and feels she should have never said anything in the first place. This just took place with the Virginia State University case reported in the Rolling Stone Article.
This same type of silencing is what happens when someone from the majority position questions the experiences of a minority and makes us second-guess everything that we know. To say that I am not viewed by a majority of whites through these glasses is not having faith in my visceral account of reality and my ability to read people; their perception of me when I walk into the door; the double clutch when I walk by.
When you speak, we listen, we must. When we speak, you counter, you wiggle under the weight of our reality looking for a way to escape its paralyzing force.

Ummm. You are describing Jews…Who were the ones who actually OWNED ALL the slave ships and still to this day fuck with whites and use blacks as pawns.
People like you are the reason we were enslaved in the first place. You may think you are helping but you are making things worse for us.
In my reality you are comparible to the african government selling their own people as slaves.
Claiming that white people play the victim is peak hypocrisy and peak irony.
Appreciate the analogy in needing to prove the truth and emotional sincerity of your beliefs in a situation where they are (nearly automatically) discounted unless you are saying fits exactly where it is expected.
I’ve been thinking a lot about this ideology we have where only certain (white, male) people are qualified to interpret reality and the rest of us are data.
