The New Hampshire Democratic Party seeks highly personable fellows who have the flexibility, professionalism and dedication to Democratic values necessary to excel in an exciting, high-pressure environment. As one of the nation’s truest swing states, New Hampshire experiences contested elections on the presidential, congressional, state, and local levels. The NHDP Summer Fellowship offers the opportunity to work on the front-lines of some of the nation’s most consequential political races.

NHDP Summer Fellows will be at the heart of the NHDP Coordinated Campaign, working closely with staff to implement modern political strategies and tactics. Fellows will play an integral role in the development and implementation of our voter outreach and volunteer training programs across the state; help maintain the NHDP voter database; and lay the foundation necessary to elect Democrats up and down the ticket.

No experience is necessary, but applicants should hold a commitment to Democratic Party principles and a willingness to learn about the political process.

Summer Internship with the Civil Rights Division of the MA Attorney General’s Office

Internship Description

Primary Duties: Responsibilities include a wide range of duties relating to assisting the Division in investigating and prosecuting civil rights violations. Primary responsibilities are to conduct intake, screen and evaluate constituent complaints, investigate complaints, and respond to complainants. Other responsibilities include assisting Division attorneys in investigations and in case preparation, maintenance of Division files and statistics, and assisting with outreach events and other public presentations.

Position Requirements: Applicants must be undergraduates with excellent organizational, writing, and analytical skills; an ability to handle multiple tasks at once and balance both long- and short-term projects; strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public; strong oral communication and presentation skills; and a demonstrated commitment to the mission of the Division. Bilingual candidates are preferred.

There are three UMass SBS grads working in this division, so you will be in good company!

FairVote’s Democracy Fellowship Program provides an opportunity for those with an interest in election reform to work on substantive projects while building valuable skills and networking with others in the field. Fellows will be assigned projects to manage throughout their tenures, and will also assist with the supervision of FairVote interns. They will be exposed to the broad workings of FairVote, ranging from research, communications and advocacy, to building websites, blogging, and representing FairVote in coalition meetings and on Capitol Hill.

The positions are paid, with healthcare benefits and a stipend for commuting expenses. Fellows will be given opportunities to build their skills and knowledge base both through on-the-job training and opportunities to attend workshops and seminars. Nearly every graduate of FairVote’s Fellowship Program has either continued at FairVote as a full-time staff member, begun work at another public interest organization, or attended graduate school.

The Reproductive Rights Activist Service Corps (RRASC) is a 10-week paid summer internship program sponsored by the Civil Liberties and Public Policy Program at Hampshire College. Undergraduate students intern at reproductive rights and social justice organizations around the country. Organizations work on a wide array of issues including reproductive health, economic justice, immigrant rights, rights of indigenous peoples, LGBTQ rights, human rights, intimate partner abuse, and prison abolition. THE BILL EMERSON NATIONAL HUNGER FELLOWS PROGRAM seeks to develop effective leaders who will find innovative solutions and help bring about the end of hunger and poverty.

This year-long fellowship combines field training, policy training, and professional congressional hunger centerdevelopment training with months of hands-on work at community-based nonprofits and government agencies.

Fellows receive a living stipend, health insurance, and housing support.
