INFORMS Student Chapter Meeting, UMass Amherst

Meeting started at 6:30 p.m.
Members Present:
Dana Hassani, Semih Boz, Samira Samadi, Ismael Mohammad Pour, Yukti Kathuria, Sindhoora Prakash.
[Note: Busra Karkili and Joshua Gladstone were absent for justified reasons.]
Summary
Officers had the first official meeting of the Spring 2024 semester. The meeting was held online over Zoom. The agenda was as bellow:
1. Officers were briefed about the planned and potential events and activities of the spring semester. Outline for 2024 Spring activities:
- Three seminars are set as part of the Guest Speaker Series, with a fourth seminar possible based on the speaker’s availability.
- Two or Three recorded interviews with guest speakers for the Chapter’s YouTube Channel.
- End of the semester party.
- Possible networking event for undergrads to familiarize them with OR.
2. Administrative tasks:
- The budget request has already been submitted to GSS at UMass Amherst.
- 2024 Student Chapter Meet & Greet with INFORMS via Zoom (Dana will attend).
3. Officers were updated on the current budget and finances of the Chapter.
4. Updating our social media outlets’ headers (Sindhoora volunteered to prepare an updated collage).
[Note: The first Spring 2024 Guest Speaker Series seminar, with Dr. Mylovanov, happened on short notice (along with the first recorded interview). Accordingly, the coordination efforts were swift and before this official meeting.]
