INFORMS Student Chapter Meeting, UMass Amherst

Meeting started at 10:00 a.m.
Members Present:
Paola Furlanetto, Dana Hassani, Busra Karkili, Semih Boz, Josh Gladstone, Samira Samadi, Ismael Mohammad Pour, Yukti Kathuria, Sindhoora Prakash.
Summary
Last year’s officers and interested members had the first meeting of the 2023-24 academic year. The meeting was held at the Business Innovation Hub building at the Isenberg School of Management. The agenda was as bellow:
The annual elections were held to determine the Chapter officers for this academic year. The results are as follows:
- Dana Hassani, President
- Sindhoora Prakash, Vice President
- Josh Gladstone, Treasurer
- Ismael Mohammad Pour, Secretary 1
- Samira Samadi, Secretary 2
- Gulten Busra Karkili, Social Media
- Semih Boz, Social Media Assistant
- Yukti Kathuria, Blog Manager
Outline for 2023 Fall activities:
- Two to three seminars as part of the guest speaker series.
Professor Nagurney has invited the first guest speaker for September 22, 2023. Paola and Dana have already started the coordination efforts and reserved a room for the seminar. - INFORMS Annual Meeting Tune-Up event on October 6, 2023.
The room for the event is already reserved. - End of the year party.
Administrative tasks:
- Re-registration of the Chapter in the UMass student organization system.
- Meetings for UMass and INFORMS
Given the change in leadership and roles, last year’s officers spent the ending minutes of the meeting briefing newly elected officers on each role’s tasks, responsibilities, and procedures.
