The 2015 field school focused on the analysis and documentation of the formal gardens associated with the hermitage/lusthaus site. Located approximately 1km uphill of the Palace, the gardens are noted in documents dating from the early 1700’s. However, any formal plans or details of the site do not exist.
Recent Lidar imagery clearly shows the outlines and remnants of the formal gardens. Using the imagery, the group cleared the site, identified the locations of remnant pathways and features, and used photographs to document the findings.
