Why Us?

The University of Massachusetts Amherst is a globally recognized leader in academics, research, and public service.

With over 50 years of innovation, our center leads in water and energy technology, tackling critical challenges and delivering groundbreaking solutions.

We bridge the gap between research and reality, transforming laboratory discoveries into commercially viable products

Case Studies

Our study found that on-site generated peracetic acid is as effective as commercial PAA and chlorine in inactivating E. coli, making it a promising alternative for wastewater treatment.

Our pilot-scale grit washing system efficiently removed large particles from wastewater, and the addition of a level sensor automated dewatering, cutting energy use by 80%.

We optimized aeration motor performance, reducing energy use by 2 kWh per cycle and saving over $4,000 annually, while also reducing motor stress.
