Some movies have a way of stirring up more food cravings in us than just popcorn. Picture yourself curled up on the couch watching “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban:” when Harry eats the chocolate after his encounter with the Dementors, movie night becomes one that you just can’t do without a bite of that chocolate for yourself.

“Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” almost always leaves you wanting a bite of all that delicious candy. From the river of flowing chocolate to Wonka’s Magic Chewing Gum, sticks of gum with flavors of a full three-course dinner, to cotton candy directly from a sheep’s back, it’s easy to say the candy you see in Wonka’s chocolate factory leaves your taste buds buzzing. Luckily, a candy shop in Northampton has the goods that will seal the deal. Stop into Sweeties Fine Chocolate & Confections, located at 68 Main St. Enjoy candies and chocolates right along with Mr. Wonka.

The movie “Clueless” brought into the world one of the most timeless movie characters there is: Cher Horowitz. The cookie dough scene really demonstrates her instinct to impress, and when she clumsily drops a roll of cookie dough onto a pan in hopes to impress her date, you can’t help but love her. Watching this scene can so easily have you craving gooey, warm chocolate chip cookies. Big Y has numerous brands, and a brand to try the Pillsbury Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. You can even slap the whole roll onto the pan if you’d prefer, just like Cher does in the movie.

They’re probably aren’t too many people who don’t know about the iconic spaghetti and meatball scene from the beloved Disney classic “Lady and the Tramp.” A story about two of the most loveable dogs, this famous scene has kept the movie in the spotlight for generations. Though spaghetti and meatballs stray a bit away from a typical movie theater snack, it is still a scene that leaves people craving the popular Italian dish. If you want to recreate this delicious plate of food, or if you just want to live in Lady’s and Tramp’s world for a night, check out our ricotta meatballs recipe at gazettenet.com and make it a night to remember.

“Bridesmaids” is a great movie to watch on your next GNI (Girls Night In). Following the path as a bridesmaid with protagonist Annie Walker, we get a glimpse into the life of a woman struggling with love, who has to now be a bridesmaid at her best friend’s wedding. Annie is a baker, and her cupcake making and decorating skills will leave you trying to find a recipe to replicate the delicious snack. Food blogger Caroline Artiss did the hard work and developed a recipe on her site carolineartiss.com, “Bridesmaids – The Film Cupcakes.”

Anyone who has seen “The Parent Trap” (the ‘90s version) probably remembers the scene where Hallie and Annie discover their mutual love for a snack that neither can live without: Oreos dipped in peanut butter. You also probably know how every time this scene comes on, you instinctively wonder if you have any Oreos laying around to dip into that new jar of peanut butter you just bought. The perfect amount of sweet and salty, this snack is great for all ages, and pairs great with family classics. Try the freshly-ground peanut butter at Atkins Farms, located at 1151 West St, Amherst.

Another slightly unconventional movie snack will take you all the way to the Greek islands: gyros, warm pita bread, and fresh, homemade tzatziki sauce. In “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” the piles of food on the tables as they are being prepped and later served might actually be enough for someone to consider booking a flight to Greece right then. Picture yourself now, dipping freshly baked pita bread into the most delicious tzatziki sauce, you might even feel the breeze of the Aegean Sea on your neck as you take your first bite. Local restaurant Filo’s Greek Taverna, 279 Main St., Northampton, can give you the Greek experience you’ll crave after watching this movie. They even deliver, so you can get a taste of Greece right along with Toula’s family as you watch them from the comfort of your home.
