It’s time for a carnival! Shake out your winter blues with the energetic, driving music of the Creole culture. Over the past decade, globalFEST has become one of the most dynamic global music platforms in North America. What started as an annual showcase in New York has grown into an international brand, building audiences for world music with stages at SXSW, Bonnaroo, and beyond. For its first North American tour, globalFEST will feature the reigning queen of Haitian songs Emeline Michel, Rio’s innovative samba masters Casuarina, and Jamaica’s one-stringed guitar virtuoso, Brushy One String.

  1. While all three groups were clearly talented and accomplished, Brushy One-String stood out as a bundle of barely restrained energy. He could be named the Jamacian McJagger. I have never seen anyone get the kind of sound he did out of his guitar, and his voice was mesmerizing. Thanks for introducing him and the other teriffic performers to me and my husband. The closing jointly performed Bob Marley song, Get Up, Stand Up, was hands down our favorite. We couldn’t stay in our seats, and I happily sang along to the bands rousing and heart- felt rendition.

  2. My 10yr old and 12yr old sons LOVED the show – and my husband and I were thrilled to hear such great sounds. What a treat to hear this diversity of music, rhythms, and language – we purchased all three CDs and listened to them on the way home from the show! Thank you for the experience and for sharing such talent with us here in western MA!

  3. Last night’s show was phenomenal! Loved all the artists. All of them bring something different and equally as pleasing.

    More please!

  4. The performers were all terrific but the show was not as advertised. They had nothing to do with Carinval, other than that all three of their countries of origin celebrate carnival. It was a night of low-key restrained world music. I liked it a lot but I was expecting a party atmosphere–for carnival. Only the final song met that expectation. This is a disservice to both the audience and the performers.

  5. From the first sound of Emeline’s bass voice and her entrancing presence, I was captivated. The power in Brushy’s voice also blew me away. Casuarina was wonderfully rich in harmonies and rhythms. And of course, that last part with all three groups was phenomenal. I wish there had been more of that.

  6. The ServiceNet program that attended globalFEST enjoyed it immensely! Our clients loved the singing & they had a wonderful time.

Thank you for giving them such a wonderful experience that they will be talking about for weeks to come!
