About

This is the blog for the course ECO697-SA Advanced Statistical Ecology.  I am the instructor of the course, and the author of the blog.  My background is in ecological modeling, but some of the new techniques in statistics allow more direct parameterization of models from data.

This course is the third in a series of statistics courses in Statistical Ecology offered by the Department of Environmental Conservation.  This course will look at statistics outside the general linear model, focusing on non-normal distributions, hierarchical observer-process models, and likelihood methods of fitting complex models.
