The Summit presents a historic opportunity to consider the practices, projects, institutions, and funding priorities that build equity for rural communities and Indian Country.

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation: Health and Climate Solutions

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) is working to build a Culture of Health where everyone in America has a fair opportunity for health and well-being. But, climate change threatens all of the factors that shape the opportunity for a healthy life, especially for those who are the most vulnerable to the health harms of climate change.

The good news is that health solutions can also benefit the climate, and climate solutions can help build a Culture of Health with immediate and long-term health benefits.

Is your community or organization working to address the health harms of climate change? RWJF is looking to award grants of up to $350,000 for up to eight projects that are improving community health and advancing health equity, while also addressing climate change adaptation and mitigation.

Grant funds will support research and evaluation of the project, with some funds allocated to communication and dissemination efforts to share findings and lessons learned broadly.

97th Meeting of the National Advisory Council for Nursing Research

Join the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) for the next open session of the National Advisory Council for Nursing Research, to be held on January 29, 2019 at 1:00 pm in conference room D, building 45 (Natcher) on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) campus in Bethesda, MA.

The session will include updates on cloud computing and data science at NIH, NINR’s technology science portfolio, and a review of a report on inclusion of women and minorities in clinical research. There will also be presentations on development of novel, biophysically designed fluids for swallowing disorders and development of patient-centered technologies to provide supportive treatment supervision, followed by a panel Q&A.

When Controversy Comes to Campus Conference

Drawing on lessons learned by the University of Florida, this conference will inform participants on actions needed for a unified response composed of university, local, state, and federal partners when a known controversial speaker or event comes to campus.

This conference is free and open to Massachusetts’ colleges, universities, local and state responders, and federal partners.

NINR Advisory Council Presentation Videos Available

Presentations given at the public session of the National Advisory Council for Nursing Research on September 4, 2018 are now available to view on the NINR YouTube page.

NACNR meets three times a year to provide recommendations on the direction and support of the nursing, biomedical, social, and behavioral research that forms the evidence base for nursing practice. In addition to the Director’s Report from NINR Acting Director Ann K. Cashion, September’s meeting featured the following presentations:

The next meeting of the National Advisory Council for Nursing Research will be held on January 29-30, 2019.
