The next open session of the National Advisory Council for Nursing Research (NACNR) will take place on September 15, 2020 from 11.30am to 1:30pm ET via Videocast.
The NACNR meets three times a year to provide recommendations on the direction and support of the nursing, biomedical, social, and behavioral research that forms the evidence base for nursing practice: http://www.ninr.nih.gov/AboutNINR/NACNR.
Presented by the Berkshire Area Health Education Center, healthcare professionals and others will be able to incorporate the tools and practices in this program to understand sleep’s important role in good physical and mental health and to identify ways to improve and sleep quality and quantity. Raeann LeBlanc, PhD, DNP, is the Seedworks Endowed Clinical Assistant Professor for Social Justice in the College of Nursing, UMass/Amherst. In this role, Raeann works with nursing students and community members to advance the nursing value and impact of social justice and health equity in the Commonwealth and beyond.
Christine Schrauf, PhD, RN, MBA is an active member of the American Nurses Association-Massachusetts Health Policy Committee and actively participates in state legislative advocacy. Christine is also an adjunct faculty member at Elms College in Chicopee, MA where she teaches health policy and ethics to graduate nursing students.
The Massachusetts Consortium on Pathogen Readiness presents its July 2020 virtual Public Briefing on Vaccines: The Ultimate Quest in COVID-19, taking place on Tuesday, July 28 from 12:00pm – 1:30pm ET.

Registration for NINR’s Artificial Intelligence Boot Camp is now open. The Boot Camp will take place August 3-6, 2020 and will be held virtually. It will explore the impact that Artificial Intelligence has in the evolving healthcare environment, and overall efforts to improve the quality of care for patients and families. Graduate students, faculty, and clinicians are encouraged to attend.

Camara Phyllis Jones, MD, MPH, PhD is a 2019-2020 Radcliffe Fellow at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University. She is a Past President of the American Public Health Association (2015-2016) and a Senior Fellow at the Satcher Health Leadership Institute and the Cardiovascular Research Institute at the Morehouse School of Medicine. Dr. Jones is a family physician and epidemiologist whose work focuses on the impacts of racism on the health and well-being of the nation. She seeks to broaden the national health debate to include not only universal access to high quality health care, but also attention to the social determinants of health (including poverty) and the social determinants of equity (including racism).
