The Office of Research is pleased to present the following research seminar by Assistant Professor Rachel K. Walker, PhD, RN –

Addressing Activity, Anxiety, Sleep and Sexual Well-being following Breast Cancer: Protocol for a Nurse-led Biobehavioral Intervention Trial

Professor Walker will discuss practical, ethical, research design and social justice considerations for a stage 1 pilot trial examining the safety, feasibility and acceptability of a biobehavioral-environmental intervention developed in partnership with breast cancer survivors, patient advocates, and a wide range of multidisciplinary clinical experts. The intervention uses a combination of self-assessments and activity tracking tools, conversation templates, non-pharmaceutical solutions, and environmental modifications to support physical activity, quality sleep, sexual well-being, and a greater sense of personal control following breast cancer therapy. Measurement aspects of the project include patient-reported outcomes, personal environment assessments, longitudinal biomarkers of cancer risk and recurrence, accelerometry, and cognitive debriefing exercises.
